Hilltop Acres Farm was established in 2013 by owners Mike and Wendy Ferguson. The original farm was owned and operated by Mike's late grandparents, David and Wilma Smail located in Corsica, PA.
Initially, we as a family began to recognize the importance of knowing where our food was coming from and what we were actually eating. So we decided to raise a couple of pigs and a couple beef steers just for our family so that we knew where our meat was coming from and how it was raised. After consumption of our first finished animals, we were amazed at the difference in taste and quality of meat compared to what we were previously eating. We also took satisfaction in knowing everything that went into each of our animals was healthy for our family as well. As time went on and our family and friends were able to experience this difference as well, we decided to continually keep expanding to allow this opportunity of knowing where your meat is coming from and how it was raised to our community by expanding our herd each year to provide for more customers. Our animals are naturally raised on our farm with no steroids, hormones, etc. Everything they are fed is grown on the farm. Customers are more than welcome to visit the farm at anytime to see the animals and how they are raised. We felt to achieve the best quality beef possible we needed to start with top quality animals. After a lot of research, we felt that registered Red Devon cattle were a perfect fit for our farm. Red Devons are medium sized framed cattle that are very docile, calve easily, and finish exceptionally well on grass alone (click on the Red Devon USA link on the home page to learn more about the Red Devon breed). We do raise some Red Devon/Red Angus cross animals as well. We sell finished animals by the quarter, half, and whole animal. We can even help you arrange all of the processing of your animals through a local processing facility. We also sell registered Red Devon stock animals for those interested in starting or improving their herd. |
